Achieving the Great Place To Work Certification is more than just an award each year — it’s proof that your company is a leader in building a thriving, trust-based workplace.
Employees want to work for companies that value and celebrate their contributions. Our Best Workplaces™ awards deliver third-party validation that job seekers trust and create opportunities for current employees to celebrate your exceptional workplace culture.
Best Workplace List winners see better business results across the board — it’s a powerful way to build trust, attract talent, and showcase your culture.

Earning Great Place To Work Certification™ is the first step to qualifying for a Best Workplaces award. Certification is based on the Trust Index™, our research-backed employee experience survey, giving job seekers and employees trusted proof of your outstanding workplace culture.

Certified companies are automatically considered for our Best Workplaces Lists, including the Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For®. For 30+ years, these prestigious awards have delivered recognition and publicity that help companies stand out and attract talent.

Receiving a Best Workplaces award is a tremendous honor. It’s also an achievement that yields real-world business impact, including increased attention from job seekers. For example, Best Workplaces winner Workiva received over 150,000 applicants for just 400 open positions.
Companies recognized as Best Workplaces see stronger retention, greater innovation, and higher profits: Stocks at the 100 Best Companies outperform the market by a factor of nearly four times.
The work you put into earning (and re-earning) a Best Workplaces award is an investment in the long-term health of your company. For many Best Workplaces winners, it’s the key to creating a sustainable competitive advantage.
The best workers have their choice of employers, and every company claims to care about the employee experience. How does a potential employee know you walk the walk?
Earning a spot on a trusted Best Workplaces List shows your commitment to creating a great company culture for all employees. It’s third-party validation that sets you apart in a competitive job market and helps you attract and hire top talent. Workiva attribute their 375:1 applicants-per-position ratio to their status as a Best Workplaces winner.
When employees see their workplace recognized on a Best Workplaces List, it reinforces a sense of pride and belonging, and it highlights your efforts to foster a workplace where people feel valued. No wonder 84% of employees at Certified companies say they plan to stay with their companies for a long time (compared to just 61% at other companies).
Winning an award isn’t just about hiring — it’s about celebrating (and keeping!) the employees who make your culture great.
A Best Workplaces award is more than a badge: it’s proof that your company is doing a lot of things right. It’s also a newsworthy achievement that you can use to draw attention to your organization.
Earning a spot on a Best Workplaces List helps elevate your brand in national, local, and industry media, such as Fortune, which has 18 million readers. The PR opportunities created can provide a valuable boost for your reputation as an employer of choice.

The Great Place To Work Trust Index™ Survey measures the level of trust in your organization and the consistency of the employee experience. It assesses how often employees can count on clear leadership, fair treatment, and recognition. It evaluates five dimensions of high-trust culture: credibility, respect, fairness, pride, and sense of belonging. Survey answers are averaged to provide an organization-wide Trust Index score.
The Trust Index™ Survey platform allows feedback from various groups across your organization — engagement surveys, onboarding feedback, pulse checks, or other internal assessments. You can include contractors, interns, or franchise employees if relevant. Certification eligibility requires following specific criteria.
To be eligible for Certification, include all individuals legally employed by your company, paid directly by your company, and classified under:
All part-time and full-time employees
CEO and all staff levels
All company locations
Union and non-union employees
New hires, including from mergers or acquisitions
Remote workers
Seasonal, casual/per diem employees, interns
Employees under 18, as permitted by local laws
Important: Failure to include any eligible group or invite the required number of employees may result in disqualification from Certification and Best Workplaces™ list eligibility.
Do not include individuals not legally employed by your organization at the time of survey launch, such as:
Contractors employed by another company or self-employed
Furloughed employees temporarily not working
Franchise workers employed by the franchisee, not the franchisor
